New NoSQL platforms provide a valid alternative to traditional Data Warehouses which take significant time to setup. While using NoSQL for Data Warehousing has its limitations, the main advantage is in the minimal setup time and easy modification. NoSQL platforms enable “schema on read” approach – the data loaded into the storage without or with minimal modifications, then profiled using flexible query tools. The Data Warehouse functionality is then developed iteratively though indexes, facets and queries.
The course is designed for Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Architects and other people working with enterprise data. The course is very practical, it combines explanation of fundamentals with practical exercises. It is expected that at the end of the course the participants would be able to:
- Understand the principles of using NoSQL for Data Warehousing, they key terms and abstractions, and make the right decisions in relation to implementation.
- Go ahead with implementation, including installing the software, loading data and running necessary queries.
Every topic will be accompanied by work covering real data,
Participants are invited to bring their own laptops – 16Gb RAM recommended. Alternatively, rental hardware and/or AWS VM will be provided at cost.
