Re-Architecting Enterprise Information Processing

This service is designed for enterprises with $50 million – $500 million revenue that significantly rely on proprietary computational capabilities. Many companies like that grew up their IT ad-hoc in response to business demands. However at some stage an enterprise like that can hit the wall, where the complexity of processing can no longer be handled by the initial creator, even if the one still leading it.

Business Abstraction offers cost-conscious exercise designed to retain all the advantages and achievements of existing applications, while delivering the agility and scalability of service orientation. Several of our past clients were provided with this type of service, in each cases enabling significant expansion while improving clarity and control over Application Architecture and applications-related projects.

The depending of the needs, the exercise an produce:

  • Business Motivation Model that captures the ends and means of the enterprise strategy.
  • Business Information Model that represents key information assets of the enterprise, both primary (sourced from outside) and secondary (produced by the enterprise).
  • Enterprise Capability Model specifies the key capabilities that are critical for the enterprise functioning.
  • Business Service Model identifies key building blocks of the enterprise.
  • Capability Realisation Model shows how Business Services collaborate to deliver to the Enterprise Capabilities.
  • Application Architecture Model specifies how each Business Service is implemented through collaboration of human workers and software, and how communication between the building blocks of the enterprise is implemented.

Other types of Models can be added if necessary. The resulting modelling repository provides the clear picture of where enterprise is heading, and how the computational capability should be modified to support the further expansion. The models allows for gradual transition to the target state.
