Business Abstraction has developed the range of services that provide certainty, reduce risks, as well as save costs through all stages of SOA Implementation or Service-Oriented Solution Development. Mentoring and Modelling Health CheckModelling within a Model-Driven Development environment, especially within an advanced environment that is required for SOA, is a demanding task for even a seasoned professional. While Business Abstraction training devotes maximum effort possible to practical work to ensure consistent practical skills, some on-the-job learning well inevitably follow. It can be assisted by regular review and assistance offered by our Mentoring programme. Some projects choose to employ our assistance through the course of the project. At any point in time we monitor several projects, ensuring that the project flow follows the process, resolving all issues, and maintaining additional functionality and configuration settings that further improve productivity. Hub-and-Spoke ModellingMentoring is effective when the core team has been trained in Conceptual Service Modelling and has both the capacity and motivation to further advanced these skills. However we found that some of hour clients have BA teams that have detailed understanding of the relevant business and effective communication skills, who at the same time do not see themselves as modellers. The arrangement suggests a Modeller (hub) who does not necessarily conduct own communication with stakeholders, business etc, acting as a "scribe" for several more traditional BAs, System Analysts, Designers or Architects (spokes). Unlike a traditional Mentor, the Modeller will follow a very structural approach that enables effective work with up to 8 team members. The Clients will be provided with "Hub-and-Spoke Methodology" paper that will specify fixed sessions (45 minutes), workshops etc, as well as a formal way to estimate ROI on this type of service. Hub-and-Spoke Modeller will not lead Business Analysis team, instead acting as a Consultant to BA Team Lead who in case of this arrangement will be appointed for his/her business knowledge and acumen, as well as communication and leadership skills. Conceptual Service Analysis & DesignThis service is designed for clients who choose to rely on external service providers for implementation of their SOA or an individual Service-Oriented project. Delegating a Conceptual part to a software vendor or a consultant closely associated with a particular vendor will most likely result in a very technology-specific solution. It will also likely to tie the Client to a specific platform before the requirements for a platform are clear. Delegating Conceptual phase of a Service-Oriented development to Business Abstraction will ensure business focus, cost-effectiveness and platform-independence of Business and Conceptual Service Analysis activities. Independent Conceptual Designer will deliver platform-independent specs, participate in communication with the technical vendor from the position of the Clients interests.
